Rashid khan said the Afghanistan Cricket team has the talent and skills to win T20 World Cup.
One of the best cricketers for Afganistan Rashid Khan said he believes Afghanistan has the talent and skills to win the T20 World Cup. Rashid admitted that we didn’t know what we were doing in our maiden Test, against India which was ended in just two days.
Afghanistan played their first test match against India in 2018 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. India dominated the game being one of the top test teams and defeated Afghanistan by an innings and 262 runs in Bengaluru.
Rashid Khan said “I think the biggest accomplishment for Afghanistan Cricket should be, to understand what the team is looking for, what the country is expecting is, to win the T20 World Cup,”
while talking with Ravichandran Ashwin on his show DRS with Ash, Khan further added, “We have all the skills, talent, and we just have to believe in ourselves that we can do it,”
“Talent-wise we have everything, we have the spinners, we have the fast bowlers, we have the batting skills as well.
“But I think what goes wrong against India was our experience against big teams because we didn’t play enough cricket with them.”
Afghanistan played almost a decade of international cricket but it was on 22 June 2017, at an ICC meeting in London, Afghanistan was granted the full ICC Membership. Afghanistan becomes the twelve nation to play test cricket.
Afghanistan produced some magical moments in limited-overs cricket and won two out of the four-Test matches. Though they have lost against India and West Indies their win against Bangladesh and Ireland shows their fighting spirit.
Khan added, “The biggest dream of the whole country was to be called a Full Member team and to play a Test game.
“When we were playing against you guys in our first Test game, we didn’t know what we were doing.
“Everyone was just counting – I’m going to be the first one to hit a four, the first one to hit a six, the first one to take a single.
“It wasn’t the best game for us, but there were so many things to learned from that match.”
Rashid said that the country needs to play more cricket against the best teams which could help our team to become better.
“The moment when we started playing more series with them, we can become a better team.
“We are very famous for T20 players, but inshallah, that is a dream of mine and a dream of the country that one day if we keep improving we will win the T20 title and that will be the most prominent accomplishment for Afghanistan cricket and for us as well,”
