AUSTRALIA CRICKET FIXTURES:-
Australia’s top first class league sheffield shield final round of the competition could be cancelled due to rise of coronavirus pandemic.
Cricket australia officially announced that they are cancelling the final round of competition due to rising threat of covid-19.
The shield has been contested every season since 1892.Two occasions in which shield has not been contested are in first world war and second world war between 1915 to 1919 and 1940 to 1946 respectively.
CA chief executive kevin roberts said”shield final round has been cancelled in an effort to reduce travel and it would contribute global effort to slow and eventually stop the spread of coronavirus”.
“At time like this cricket must take a back seat for the greater good”.
“we have been in consultation with relevant government agencies, our own medical team and an infectious diseases expert for quiet some time now,and we have taken all their advice into account in making these decisions.
Spectators are already been banned to watch the games which are going to be held at waca in perth, karen rolton oval in adelaide and melbourne’s junction oval.
If the final could not be played due to covid-19 threat,CA would declare New South wale blues as a title winner, due to the fact that they are the current league leaders.
If the public health and situation improves, final will be held accordingly between New South Wales Blues and Victoria.
