Yossi Benayoun, former Liverpool player credited Jurgen Klopp for making Liverpool as one of the best European teams right now. He believed that the arrival of the German coach in Liverpool changed the fortune of the club.
Liverpool is always considered one of the best teams in England and in Europe, however Liverpool unbale to win the premier league for 30 years. Liverpool was a dominant force in the 1970s and 80s and won multiple league titles and European championship.
Manchester United replaced Liverpool as one of the best clubs in England and Europe in the 1990s and since then Liverpool has not won a single Premier League title.
Other teams that have enjoyed the domestic dominance are Arsenal, Manchester City, and Chelsea while Liverpool’s wait for their first Premier League extended to 30 years.
2019-20 season will bring the end for the run of Premier League for Liverpool once the Premier League resumes on June 17. Coronavirus Pandemic halted the Premier League season for almost three months. Liverpool is on top of the Premier League table with 82 points.
Under the Klopp, Liverpool won the Uefa Champions League last season beating Tottenham Hotspur in the final. Klopp also guided Liverpool to Uefa Super Cup and Fifa Club World Cup trophy. Liverpool is just six points away to put their hand on the Premier League title.
Benayoun who played for the Liverpool Football club between 2007 and 2010 says the Jurgen Klopp has created “something special” which was missing from the ages since taking the managerial role at Liverpool in 2015, he completely changed the fortune of the club.
Former Liverpool player told the club’s official website “I’m happy to see it, it’s amazing to see where Liverpool are at the moment,”
“From what I see, they play amazing football under coach Jurgen Klopp. The most special thing is they work as a team, not as an individual – everyone knows what they’re doing on the pitch, they don’t rely upon one or two big stars and depend on them. The star of the team is the team itself, one unit. They play together.
“And the commitment the players have is something special. I don’t see any other team in Europe that has this commitment starting from goalkeeper to the striker and midfielder they work together, to press. When they decide to press they press everyone, no-one can play against them. It’s amazing.
“Of course, big credit to the manager, to Jurgen Klopp. I think this is the big difference from years before. I really enjoy watching them. Hopefully, they will continue like this and make us proud.”
