IPL 2020 UPDATE NEWS:-
The Emirates Cricket Board has confirmed that they would love to host Indian Premier League 2020 if India decides the biggest T20 tournament out of the country due to Coronavirus Pandemic.
IPL 2020 season scheduled to start at the march but the rise of the global pandemic halted the season and now it’s been postponed. Reports claim that BCCI is looking for an October window if the T20 world cup in Australia will not be held this year.
A report in Gulf News said that the UAE Cricket Board has contacted the BCCI and made an offer that it can host the IPL if they decide to held tournaments out of the country.
General secretary Mubashir Usmani was quoted as saying by the newspaper “In the past, Emirates Cricket Board has successfully hosted IPL matches in UAE. We have a proven record of being hosts as a neutral venue for various bilateral and multi-nation cricket activities in the past,”
“Our state-of-the-art venues and facilities make the Emirates a desired place for hosting all types of cricket.”
Usmani said Emirates Cricket Board had also offered their venues to England and Wales Cricket Board to complete the English season here as well.
He added “We have come forward and offered our venues to both England and India. We have also hosted matches involving the England team on multiple occasions previously. If our offer is taken up by either of the Boards, then we will be pleased to facilitate the hosting of their matches,”
Sri Lanka Cricket is another Board that has expressed his desire to host the IPL 2020 if India decides to hold the tournament away from home.
It’s still not clear that IPL would happen this year or not and if it’s happening than what will be the possible destination until ICC takes a decision on the fate of this year’s T20 World Cup which was going to be held at Australia during its board meeting through video conference on 10 June.
