Hazard can win the Ballon d’Or at Real Madrid – Martinez

Belgium head coach Roberto Martinez believes that Eden Hazard can win the Ballon d’Or at Real Madrid.

Hazard signed the 100m transfer deal with Real Madrid at the start of the 2019-20 season. There are a lot of expectations from Real Madrid and their fans with Hazard as their main man Cristiano Ronaldo left Real Madrid for Juventus, but the Belgium international has struggled in his first season with the club.

Due to his injury and fitness problems Hazard unable to play for more than 15 appearances with the club.Hazard is out of action since February due to broken ankle.

Hazard national coach Martinez expecting a lot from him and he believes he can win the Ballon d’Or if he stays at Real Madrid.

Matinez told Cadena Ser “He can totally win the Ballon d’Or with Real Madrid, without a doubt,”

“Sometimes it quiets difficult to start and adjust at your new club to give everything that you have inside and understand what it means to play in such a great club like Real Madrid.

“Eden does not miss games, he played for 8 years with Chelsea and there are a total of 18 games in which he is not a part and this has been circumstantial. The game that was injured against Paris Saint Germain we already saw Eden is very happy and had a lot of joy in his football with a great connection and understanding with his team-mates. 

“I think Real Madrid fans are confident and believe that he will bring many successes to the club with his performance”

Last week Real Madrid returned to their Valdebebas base, and this is the first time this happened in two months since the suspension due to coronavirus pandemic, with most major sport around the world suspended or postponed due to the Covid-19 crisis.

The players undertook individual sessions due to social distancing before working in groups on Monday. La Liga clubs took a great step towards resuming their league and their normal activities. La Liga is most likely to start in June.

Roberto Martinez further added: “He is very happy when he sees Eden is in a moment of great joy, and very comfortable at Real Madrid.

“All the steps have been taken in great detail and I would have had no problem to end the season with Real Madrid and reach the European Championship. I see him very happy and looking forward to some joy this season.”

Martinez reportedly has been in the headlines, as the Belgium head coach extended the deal with Belgium until the end of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
