NBA Championship

With the 2023 NBA Draft, off-season player trades, and management changes, the 2023-2024 NBA Season is just around the corner. The 82-game season will officially start by the end of October, but pundits and analysts have already ranked teams based on their off-season moves. Here’s the list of the top eight NBA teams most likely to win the 2023-2024 NBA Championships.

  Boston Celtics

With championship odds of +460, the Boston Celtics is considered the team to beat this season. The 2021-2022 Eastern Conference Champion and 2022-2023 Eastern Conference Runner-Up are gearing up as they finally aim to win their 18th championship.

They’re looking to improve their previous season’s 57-25 record by trading away defensive guard Marcus Smart and signing all-around All-Star forward Kristals Prozingis. This move allows the team to further develop Derrick White as a viable scoring option while maximizing the prime of their team superstar Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.

Just like having good odds when you participate in FanDuel Casino PA, the Celtics’ odds are fairly good this upcoming NBA season. Will Tatum and company finally win a championship this season? The odds seem to be in their favor.

  Denver Nuggets

The defending champions will likely start the 2023-2024 NBA Season as a strong contender for a repeat title. The Denver Nuggets are currently riding on post-championship momentum going into the new season. The team has a championship odds of +470.

  Phoenix Suns

In a package that sent veteran all-star point guard Chris Paul to the Wizards for all-star shooting guard Bradley Beal, the Phoenix Suns have seriously upgraded their roster for a legit run at the title this season.

Bradley Beal will be joining the all-star trio of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Deandre Ayton to complete a potentially lethal offensive lineup. With this caliber of talent, the team has a +660 odds of winning the NBA championship.

The Suns are looking forward to significantly improving their 45-37 injury-plagued record last season. With a complete and healthy line-up, the Phoenix Suns are currently well-positioned to make a serious title run this 2023-2024 NBA Season.

  Golden State Warriors

With a +1200-championship odds, the Stephen Curry-led former NBA Champions, the Golden State Warriors continue to fight. The Warriors have traded the young Jordan Poole to the Washington Wizards for a more reliable point guard in Chris Paul. Although the move adds more age and depth to the roster, the Warriors aren’t getting any younger.

However, a hidden benefit from exchanging Poole for Paul is that the Warriors free up valuable cap space to make room for them to sign younger talent this season. With more cap space to work with, Golden State will be an attractive destination for any young gun who’s willing to work with veterans for an NBA title.

  Milwaukee Bucks

The Milwaukee Bucks made a lot of changes during the off-season. They fired their head coach Mike Budenholzer, after being eliminated in the first round by the Miami Heat, even though it had the best regular season record and was seeded No. 1. It was the sixth time the eighth-seeded team eliminated the first-seeded team.

The Bucks and hopefully Giannis Antetekoimpo, will certainly be wanting to do good and try to erase last season’s disappointing finish. The Bucks’ current odds of winning the NBA title this season stand at +750.

  Los Angeles Lakers

Fresh off a commendable run in last year’s playoffs, the Lakers are serious about winning another title in the future. Although the Lakers lost some fan favorites such as Dennis Schröder, Lonnie Walker, and Wenyen Gabriel in the offseason, the team has made big additions to their roster.

The Lakers have added Gabe Vincent, Jaxson Hayes, Cam Reddish, and Taurean Prince to their roster. Last year’s standouts,  D’Angelo Russel, Rui Hachimura, Jarred Vanderbilt, and most notably Austin Reeves, are staying with the team. Just recently, the team has also added Center Christian Wood, who in his previous seasons, flirted with All-Star numbers. With James and Davis leading this enigmatic core of players, the Lakers’ chances this season is good.

  Philadelphia 76ers

Even though rumors are abuzz in the City of Brotherly Love, the Philadelphia 76ers still have a +1700 odds of winning an NBA championship this year. Although the duo of Joel Embiid and James Harden were a powerful combination, the Sixers were a disappointment last season.

That disappointment has gone through the roster and former MVP James Harden is making it public that he doesn’t want to stay with the team. Not all is lost, however, as the Sixers still have Harden on contract. This allows the Sixers to have an MVP All-Star to dangle when they look for another all-star to pair up with Embiid. If they do find that potential superstar, the Sixers will have everything they need for another title run this season.

  Miami Heat

The 2022-2023 NBA Runner-Up was the Cinderella story last season. The Miami Heat went through the Play-In Tournament, defeated the first-seed Milwaukee Bucks, defense-oriented New York Knicks, and 2021-2022 Eastern Champions to secure last season’s conference championship.

They eventually fell to the Denver Nuggets, but their journey proved that it’s wrong to underestimate the Miami Heat. However, expect that the team will be back this season. Betting against Jimmy Butler and head coach Erik Spoelstra is a risk that fans may not want to take. Also, it’s worth noting that elite shooter Damian Lillard is itching to join the Miami Heat this season. If this deal gets through, the Miami Heat’s odds will surely skyrocket to the top.

  Final Thoughts

It’s still over a month until the official tip-off of the 2023-2024 NBA Season. Many things that could change this ranking and the team’s championship odds may still happen. Players might get injured, coaching changes might happen, or natural disasters could suspend the season. However, there’s only one sure thing: the upcoming season will be just as exciting for the owners, management, staff, players, and fans as previous seasons were.
