The 2020 fed cup final has been postponed due to coronavirus effect.This is one of the disappointed news for tennis lovers.ITF also decided to postponed the play-offs which were going to take place in 8 different cities on april 17-18.

After a lot of discussion with the ITF board,local organising committee regarding the indoor events.Event organisers will contact all ticket holder to advise them of the options they have.

The 12 team event will be the new format of the fed cup final.

ITF president David Haggerty said”We are extremely disappointed to have to make this decision,but we will not risk the safety and welfare of players,captains,event staff,and spectators,this decision has nor been made lightly,the threat posed by covid-19 is serious one and calls for us to act responsibly as a federation and as human beings”this situation goes beyond sport.

“New dates for final and playoffs will be announced very soon.

The fed cup finals draws are as follows:

Group A: France(1), Russia, Hungary

Group B: Australia(2), Belarus, Belgium

Group C: Usa(3). Spain, Slovakia

Group D: Czech republic, Germany ,Switzerland

After the completion of knockout stage a new fed cup champion will be crowned.

The two runners up will automatically qualified for the 2021 finals.The nations that finish for 3rd to 12th position will contest the 2021 qualifiers.These teams are also the contender to receive wild card entry to 2021 finals with the winners of 2020 playoffs.
