Ryan Giggs of Manchester United backs ex teammate to continue breaking records at 40.

Ryan Giggs believes his former Manchester United team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo can play until the age of 40.

Ronaldo was exceptional against the Sweden in Nations League and scored two goals to cross his 100 international goal mark for Portugal. Ronaldo still dominating the game as before and shows no sign of stopping.

Ronaldo booked his name on record books after becoming the first European player to reach 100 international goals mark during Portugal’s 2-0 win against Sweden in Nations League on Tuesday.

Ronaldo’s two goals against Sweden took him to 101 goals in 165 matches for Portugal. Ronaldo is on the verge of breaking another record, he is 9 goals away to break Iran’s Ali Daei international record of 109 goals in 149 games.

The Juventus striker was also phenomenal for his club. He scored 31 goals in Serie A last season and was one of the best players of the last season.

Giggs, who has given everything to Manchester United, has played for the Red Devils until he was 40 and Giggs is sure that Ronaldo can continue playing until a similar age with the fitness that he has.

After playing for almost 24 years for Manchester United, Giggs announced his retirement in 2014 at 40.

Ronaldo was a young boy who joined Manchester United from Sporting Lisbon in 2003 when Giggs was one of the best player for Manchester United.

The devastating duo had won three Premier League trophies with one European Championship, and multiple domestic cup titles together for United. Later Ronaldo swap United for Real Madrid in 2009 for a record-breaking fee of £80million.

Giggs told PA news agency.”He’ll have to be at the right club obviously. I was at a top club and played until I was 40, and I can see him going on and playing until he’s 40,”

“He looks after himself – he eats right, rests right, and lives for the game – and is the best professional player I ever played with.”

“I saw him at the initial stage of his career and you could never foresee him scoring this amount of goals.”

“He was a talent and a gifted player who excited you. Cristiano was always a follower of the game, and just like me he always looking for that extra edge.”

“He was always in the gym and had it in his mind how good he could be. He scored 40 goals in a single season at Manchester United and since then what he’s done is exceptional.”

Ronaldo has a contract with Juventus until 2022 and has previously indicated that he could play until his 40s if his body allows him to do so.

Ronaldo stated in 2019, “The moment my body will no longer allow me to play at its best, then it would be the time for me to leave the game that I love the most.”

“My success in my field is the outcome of hard work, dedication, and passion. I work regularly to enhance my mental and physical abilities.”

“I know my body very well, and I always have a diet to follow that makes me in the good shape and that helps me to be different from others. Everyone knows my way of living, and my life is completely dedicated to football.”
