ANDREA PIRLO JUVENTUS:-
Robert Mancini believes Andrea Pirlo is lucky to be starting his coaching career at one of the great Italian clubs (Juventus) he further said that the club had made a great decision on appointing Pirlo as a head coach.
Andrea Pirlo was assigned as a new head coach on Saturday, just after sacking Maurizio Sarri after the disastrous defeat in UEFA Champions League. Juventus won the Serie A title under the coach Maurizio Sarri but Sarri failed to help Juventus to qualify for the quarter-final as they crashed out of the Champions League against Lyon on away goals.
Mancini feels that though Pirlo does not have much experience coaching big teams, he still believes that it would be an ideal appointment for Juventus. He said further that he thinks former Juventus great player is fortunate enough to coach a team like Juventus at an early phase of his coaching career.
Mancini told La Gazzetta Dello Sport “I did not expect Juventus to go out of the Champions League was sure they would have advanced”
“But it was a terrible, it’s something that we have not predicted. Especially for those who have made changes, like Juve. Sarri wasn’t able to bring through his football.
“Pirlo is lucky to start his career from the top and with one of the best Italian teams. Maybe I didn’t start from the bottom, but I started at Fiorentina, not with a club like Juventus.
“Jokes aside, if I was searching, I would have been looking at Andrea, he is an ideal man for the job. He has great knowledge of football. Like De Rossi. I would have liked to work with him.
“There’s always a first time. Andrea opens up a new path. Let’s follow him. Good luck to him.”
Juve and Napoli are the two big Italian teams who are out of the UEFA Champions League in the last 16 and now Atlanta remains the only Italian side to be in the competition. Atlanta will be going to face Paris Saint Germain in the quarter-final of the Champions League.
Mancini believes Atalanta can play with lot of energy and full rage against the Ligue 1 champions.
Mancini added “Let’s calm down and think of PSG, who are a great team and have more experience,”
“They are certainly not at the top. PSG would be going to play against Atlanta with no Cavani, will not have Di Maria, Verratti, Mbappe, and some others who are in doubt for the clash against Atlanta.
“Their championship was stopped in March, but regardless of this, Atalanta has every right to play the quarter-final with confidence.”
