Sachin Tendulkar is a former Indian cricketer and national team captain. He is recognized as one of cricket’s all-time greatest batsmen.

With more than 18,000 runs, he holds the record for most runs scored in ODI and Test cricket. In terms of man-of-the-match honors in international cricket, he also holds this record as well.

Due to his amazing records and playing abilities, his team always had great cricket betting odds. Even today, people are impressed with the skill and abilities Tendulkar showed from a young age.

Read on to learn more about Sachin Tendulkar and his achievements in cricket.

Playing Style

The greatest productive run-maker of all time, Sachin Tendulkar was probably the greatest cricket persona ever. Tendulkar was also considered the most polished batter of his day.

His batting style was based on the most fundamental ideas of movement, perfect balance, producing accurate strokes, and anticipation. This is an intangible trait that only the best batters have. While he didn’t have a trademark move, he was skilled at them all, so he could employ any of them at his will.

Tendulkar didn’t appear to have any vulnerabilities in his play. He was able to make runs in all regions of the world under all circumstances. He was able to score from both feet and all over the wicket.

Cricket Career

The most powerful and influential team of his period, Australia, was the target of some of Tendulkar’s best efforts. One of the greatest innings ever played in that nation was his century at the age of 19 on a lightning-quick pitch at the WACA.

A few years later, Don Bradman, the greatest hitter of all time, gave Tendulkar the highest praise when he told his wife that Tendulkar reminded him of himself.

Tendulkar made a name for himself early thanks to his gift for understanding cricket and his hatred of losing. When he played in his first Test, at the age of 16, he was struck by Waqar Younis in the face but kept batting despite the injury.

At the age of 17, he scored his very first Test hundred at Old Trafford, salvaging the match. Before he was 25 years old, Tendulkar had produced 16 Test hundreds.

He beat Brian Lara as the best Test run-scorer in 2008. While in the years that followed, he amounted to over 50 Test hundreds, 13,000 Test runs, and 30,000 international runs.

Tendulkar also ended up being the first player to hit 100 international hundreds in 2012, a month before turning 39. The same as Don Bradman’s batting average, this milestone may never be beaten.

Retirement

Tendulkar resigned from every type of cricket in November 2013, after leaving ODI cricket in 2012 and following playing his 200th Test match. Tendulkar produced a run total of 34,357 in 664 games of international cricket.

In 2013, Tendulkar and Viv Richards were the only specialist batsmen from the post-World War II era to be included in an all-time Test World XI. This was to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack.

He was then published in the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame in 2019.

Life After Cricket

After resigning, Tendulkar was appointed to the Cricket Advisory Committee. However, he soon departed from this position due to a conflict that was going on against him. Yet, this little disappointment didn’t hinder Tendulkar’s love of cricket.

He soon went on to become a commentator for cricket during the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2019. Then in 2021, he became a team mentor for the Mumbai Indians, who he still mentors today.

Thus, even though his playing career has ended, that hasn’t stopped his involvement in the sport in other ways

Awards

His vast cricket career has earned Tendulkar many awards over the years.

Tendulkar has earned various honors from the Indian government. This includes the Padma Shri (1998), the Padma Vibhushan (2008), the Khel Ratna Award (1997), and the Arjuna Award (1994).

The Office of the Prime Minister in 2013, declared that Tendulkar would get the Bharat Ratna, India’s greatest civilian honor, after his final game. He was the initial athlete to get the honor and is still the youngest as of 2021.

Tendulkar was listed as one of the most influential individuals in the world by Time magazine in 2010. The Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for Cricketer of the Year was given to Tendulkar during the International Cricket Council (ICC) Awards in 2010.
