Cricket Australia considering moving Boxing Day Test against India from Melbourne to Adelaide

Cricket Australia is planning for moving the Boxing Day Test against India from Melbourne to Adelaide due to the increase in the number of Coronavirus cases in the state of Victoria.

The report claimed in the Sydney Morning Herald, Melbourne has come out as a place with the most number of Covid-19 cases and due to the Fact CA is planning to host the boxing day test match in Adelaide form 26-30 December.

Considering the fact, Cricket Australia chairman Earl Eddings has called for an urgent meeting of the national cricket cabinet next week to discuss the different ways and the things to consider for smooth conduct of the series and avoid losing a staggering 300 million Australian dollars.

The circumstances in Victoria are not up to the mark and a senior cricket official informed the country’s leading daily that there is less chance that the current schedule will go ahead with the state border restrictions in place amid the Coronavirus pandemic.

Victoria has been the front runner for COVID cases, according to the reports there are 13000 positive cases for the coronavirus besides 170 deaths.

Comparing Victoria with the other Australian states, New South Wales comes at second with almost 4000 positive cases. while in Adelaide, it’s reported 457 confirmed cases with 445 of them recovered.

CA had already given the hint that the existing schedule is going to change.

CA had confirmed In the month of May that India will tour to Australia for a financially critical assignment including four Tests and ODIs.

India team will be a part of the high action test series, beginning on 3 December at Brisbane. There will be a day/night Test, which will be going to schedule form 11 to 15 December as committed by BCCI president Sourav Ganguly.

The third and fourth Tests will be held in Melbourne and Sydney from 26-30 December and 3 to 7 January respectively.

The series is crucial from the Cricket Australia Perspective due to financial reasons.
