Indian fast sensation and India’s best test bowler in overseas Ishant Sharma says getting this year’s Arjuna Award is the result of his hard work which he was doing from the past 13 years.
The Delhi lad said that more than him his members of the family and particularly his wife Pratima Singh is proud of his achievements as a cricketer.
27 athletes have been awarded the Arjuna award this year which Includes Ishant Sharma as well. Ishant has been phenomenal for the Indian cricket team in a home and overseas conditions. Indian vice-captain Rohit Sharma is among the five to be given the most prestigious and the highest sporting honor Khel Ratna. Rohit Sharma’s outstanding performance in world cup 2019 and his consistent performance throughout the year helped him to achieve this award.
Ishant responded in a video message posted by BCCI on its twitter handle “when I got to know that I was going to receive the Arjuna award, I was really happy and proud of myself. For the last 13 years, I did a lot of hard work, so it’s a proud moment for me and my family,”
Ishant further said about his family and wife “More than me, my wife is pleased of me and she is very happy and proud of my achievements because she is the one who thinks that I should get the award,”
when asked about the success of the Indian bowling unit in every format Ishant said the priority was always to win the game for the team without thinking too much about the individual performances.
Ishant further added “The mindset of Team India’s bowling right now is that we always think about how to win a game, that’s the most valuable thing to focus on while playing for the team.
Ishant said “We don’t think about individuals, we try and execute things according to the situation on the field. We plan according to every batsman. We try and execute our plans on the field and things happen for us,”
